Lesli Maxwell is the managing editor of Education Week. Previously, she oversaw the coverage of school leadership and management and reported on leadership and English-language learners. Prior to EdWeek, she was a political and higher education reporter for The Sacramento Bee and The Fresno Bee in California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Missouri and a masters in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. She was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
