Two high school basketball coaches and an assistant principal/athletic director were due in court late last week to answer charges stemming from an alleged hazing incident that resulted in the hospitalization of a 15-year-old boy in Tennessee.
The coaches and athletic director at Ooltewah High School were charged with failing to report child abuse or suspected child-sexual abuse.
The complaint stems from an incident in late December, in which three Ooltewah players allegedly used a wooden pool stick to sodomize a teammate. The three have been charged with aggravated rape and aggravated assault. Law-enforcement officials say four freshman players were assaulted.
Hamilton County schools placed the three adults on unpaid suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.
