To the Editor:
Regarding the article “Despite a Downturn, Few Men Attracted to Teaching Field” (May 9, 2012), expanded opportunities for women and the diminishing status of teaching will also keep the the number of women in the classroom down in the coming years.
Among my friends, neighbors, and relatives, I don’t know a single man or woman who is preparing for a career in K-12 education. This will be the true legacy of the present “reform” movement.
