Michele Molnar was the associate editor for EdWeek Market Brief, where she wrote about developments in the K-12 marketplace. She focused on district decisionmaking about purchases of instructional resources and what district leaders want and expect from the companies that provide them. She also wrote about education companies’ strategies in the marketplace, based on perspectives from CEOs who serve the K-12 market, from executives who lead sales and marketing teams, and from human resources professionals on hiring practices. Among the emerging trends she covered were district leaders’ emphasis on social-emotional learning, their interest in equity, and expectations for materials that address racism and cultural bias. Before joining the Education Week staff in 2013, she was a contributor covering parents’ influence on public schools.
