The Texas Education Agency’s one-time state director of science curriculum has sued her former employer, charging that she was improperly fired from her job for forwarding an e-mail regarding a public event about evolution, creationism, and intelligent design.
Christina Castillo Comer filed the federal lawsuit on July 1 in U.S. District Court in Austin.
TEA spokeswoman Debbie Graves Ratcliffe said agency officials believe that “the lawsuit misrepresents the agency’s position” regarding proper behavior by its employees, and that it looks forward to making its case in court.
