Starting out right: pre-k and kindergarten (Center for Public Education)
Students who attend pre-k and half-day kindergarten are more likely to have higher reading skills by the third grade than students who attend full-day kindergarten alone.
Student Victimization Survey (NCES)
According to the latest national statistics, nearly 4 percent of 12 -18-year-old students reported that they were victims of a crime at school, and 28 percent of students in the same age range reported being bullied at school, and 6 percent reported being the target of electronic bullying. Those that were victims of crime were more than twice as likely to be targets of bullying.
Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Provision of No Child Left Behind: A Synthesis of Provider Effects (Old Dominion University)
This synthesis of research on more than 400 SES programs serving 140,000 students found very small effect sizes, averaging +0.04 for math programs and +0.02 for reading programs.
