The school board of South Brunswick, N.J., has decided to close school for two Islamic holidays, the end of Ramadan and the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice, according to The Associated Press.

I’ve also seen news reports over the last couple of years of school boards that decided not to give students days off for Muslim holidays. But it appears that an increasing number of school districts are honoring them.

The AP reports that the New Jersey School Boards Association says that 10 of the state’s 600 districts recognize Muslim holidays as official school holidays.
