Dr. Carey Borkoski
Associate Professor, Loyola University Maryland
Dr. Carey Borkoski is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Loyola University Maryland where she teaches, coaches, and advises graduate students. Carey’s research intersects with belonging, identity development, wellbeing, and creating inclusive learning spaces. She recently published a book examining transitions and their related discomfort. She has a new book scheduled for release in early 2025 based on research from a podcast about belonging that she co-hosts with her research colleague and friend.
Dr. Es Swihart
Dean of Middle and Upper School Academics, The Out-of-Door Academy
Es Swihart is an educator, self-worth researcher, and Jungian coach who believes that learning and growth starts with the understanding of one’s own inherent value. In her two decades in education, Es has worked with students of all types, represented Sarasota County as their 2018 Teacher of the Year, served on the board at the Education Foundation of Sarasota County, and started Worthy Self Edu, a platform where self-worth serves as the central focus for conversations in education, relationships, parenting, and culture. She is currently the Dean of Middle and Upper School Academics at The Out-of-Door Academy. She earned her doctorate in Education, with a focus on Mind, Brain, and Teaching, at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Kenita Williams
Chief Operating Officer, Southern Education Foundation
Dr. Kenita T. Williams is the chief operating officer of the Southern Education Foundation, where she oversees operational functions and program implementation while fostering impactful organizational systems and culture. Since joining SEF in 2017, she has represented the foundation’s values and provided strategic support to the president and CEO. Dr. Williams brings extensive experience from roles in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including serving with Atlanta Public Schools, the Philanthropy Southeast, and as a legislative correspondent for then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama. A Teach for America alumna, she taught third grade in Atlanta after graduating from Yale University, and later earned a her Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan and her doctorate of education degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Katie Minihan
Executive Vice President and Chief Impact Officer, Project Lead The Way
As Chief Impact Officer, Katie Minihan leads the Impact Team focused on equity, access, and supporting PLTW’s mission through research, government relations, policy, advancement, and strategic partnerships. Prior to that role, Katie served as the Senior Vice President of Research where she was responsible for setting and pursuing PLTW’s research agenda, as well as engaging in internal and external research pursuits to measure the impact of PLTW programming.
Katie has been working in education for almost 20 years. Prior to joining PLTW, Katie worked in public schools as an elementary school teacher, building administrator, and district administrator including serving as a deputy superintendent at Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation located in southern Indiana.
Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Vanderbilt University, her master’s degree in Education Policy and Management at Harvard University, and her doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership from Vanderbilt University.
