Since 1991, the rate at which teenagers give birth has dropped by 44 percent, according to a data brief from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics.
The birthrate among American teenagers is now 34.3 per 1,000 women ages 15-19—the lowest rate in any year since 1946.
Between 2007 and 2010, rates declined in the District of Columbia and in every state except Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia.
