Texas District Cancels Field Trip to Hear Bush Speech

Leaders of the Arlington Independent School District in suburban Dallas have done a switcheroo and cancelled plans to bus 600 5th graders to Cowboys Stadium to hear former president George W. Bush speak next week.

The district got tons of blowback for planning that field trip after leaders there opted not to show President Barack Obama’s back-to-school speech live.

I’m sure district leaders just want all the fuss to go away. But don’t you think this decision will keep the controversy alive even longer?
