Chicago school officials, who had been fighting to give PARCC exams in only 10 percent of the district’s schools, have changed their minds and are giving the test districtwide.
The four-week testing window began last week.
Chief Executive Officer Barbara Byrd-Bennett said the state had rejected the 10 percent plan and other compromise offers and had threatened to withhold more than $1 billion in state and federal funding if the district didn’t administer the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers’ exam in all its schools.
