Toyota will give $550,000 in grants to 82 teachers as part of the Toyota TAPESTRY program, which awards teachers for outstanding science proposals to be implemented in classrooms.
Fifty teachers each received $10,000 in grant money, while 32 others received smaller grants of up to $2,500.
Winning programs were selected for creativity, risk taking, and originality in three areas: environmental science, physical science, and integrating literacy and science. With the grant money, winning teachers and their students will develop their projects over the next year.
