Transfer of learning is the process of applying learning from one situation to another—whether that’s across subject areas or from the classroom to the “real world.”
It’s critical for students to be able to use their knowledge in a variety of situations and contexts, but how can teachers facilitate that transfer?
Education Week Teacher opinion blogger Larry Ferlazzo, who is an English and social studies teacher in Sacramento, Calif., shares five ways teachers can make sure that what they teach will stick with students beyond their classroom walls.
Ferlazzo will also be sharing best practices for ending the school year tonight at 8:30 pm ET in a Facebook Live. Tune in, and share your own suggestions or questions in the comments.
