“Assessment of 21st Century Skills: The Current Landscape” is available from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.

A coalition of education, business, and technology organizations is calling for new measures of the skills needed to succeed in a fast-paced global economy.

Released June 21 by the Washington-based Partnership for 21st Century Skills, the report surveys measures that focus on such topics as global awareness; financial, economic, business, and civic literacy; higher-order thinking and problem-solving; interpersonal and self-directional skills; and information- and communications-technology literacy.

In addition to highlighting promising practices in the United States and abroad, the report includes recommendations for making the assessment of such skills a more prominent part of the U.S. education system.
