Children, Families, and Media: A Benchmark
Young children in families at every income level have and use television sets, computers, the Internet, and cellphones more than ever before, but there are significant differences in use based on family income, says a study .
Television remains the most pervasive form of technology in homes and in young children’s lives, according to the federally funded study, which was based on a 2006 telephone survey of children and their caregivers by the New York City-based Michael Cohen Group LLC and the Ready to Learn Partnership, also based in New York City.
The survey data will serve as a baseline for future studies about technology use by children and their families.
