Alfonso Thurman has been elected the new president of the Holmes Partnership, a national coalition of 96 educational organizations and universities that works on improving K-12 public schools.
Mr. Thurman, 58, will serve his five-year term while continuing as the dean of the school of education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The Holmes Partnership will move its headquarters from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, to the Milwaukee campus of the University of Wisconsin in the fall.
