The Success for All Foundation filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Washington on Feb. 3, citing the Department of Education for delays in granting its requests under the Freedom of Information Act.
The Baltimore-based foundation, which has issued other complaints over the department’s release of guidance and grants under the Reading First program, has filed a dozen requests for open records since last spring. Foundation officials say they have been waiting for some documents since May. They have also disputed the Education Department’s estimated charges of up to $50,000 for copying and release of the documents.
