John E. Dean has been elected the president of the National College Access Network’s board of directors.
Mr. Dean, 54, is a Washington-based lawyer who specializes in higher education law and policy. He is a partner in the firm of Dean Blakey and a managing partner of Washington Partners LLC, a public-policy and communications firm.
He succeeds Chad Wick, the president and chief executive officer of the Cincinnati-based KnowledgeWorks Foundation, a nonprofit group that focuses on education needs, including college access.
The Cleveland-based NCAN is a group of 130 college-access programs that help low-income students attend and graduate from college by offering them scholarships, tutoring, career guidance, and financial counseling.
