The American Educational Research Association announced last week that it has appointed Felice J. Levine to be its executive director.

Ms. Levine, 58, is currently the executive officer of the American Sociological Association. She will start her new job in May, succeeding William J. Russell,who is retiring.

Based in Washington, the AERA is an international professional organization that promotes the dissemination and use of educational research. It represents more than 23,000 researchers around the world.

N. Reginald Teague has been elected the president of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International. Mr. Teague, 58, who will serve a one-year term, is the assistant superintendent of operations for the 45,700- student Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school district in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Founded in 1921, the Arizona-based council is a nonprofit organization that provides resources for professionals who design, maintain, construct, or operate educational facilities. It has more than 2,600 members.

TeachFirst Inc. has hired Jim J. Patneaude to be its vice president of sales.

Mr. Patneaude, 48, served as the general manager of Nextel, a wireless- communications provider based in Reston, Va., before joining TeachFirst last month.

TeachFirst is a Seattle-based company that uses the Internet to provide classroom materials and support for K-12 teachers.
