The State Teacher Policy Yearbook 2007 is posted by the National Council on Teacher Quality.
The policies that states use to govern the teaching profession are outmoded and neither draw in people who could make good teachers nor keep out those who would not, concludes a multi-volume review of the subject.
The teacher-policy “yearbook,” published by the National Council on Teacher Quality, grades all 50 states and the District of Columbia in six areas, for a total of more than 1,300 grades. No state was found worthy of more than two B’s, and most earned a mix of C’s, D’s, and F’s. Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Texas were tied as the best performers, while Alaska and Maine tied for the worst in the yearbook’s assessment.
