After more than a year of deliberations, a set of professional standards for school leaders has been approved by the National Policy Board for Educational Administration.

The Professional Standards for Educational Leaders are expected to be distributed this month.

The new standards cover such topics as mission, vision, and core values; ethics and professional norms; equity and cultural responsiveness; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; professional community for teachers and staff; meaningful engagement of families and community; operations and management; and school improvement.
