A legal dispute between the National PTA and School Family Media Inc., the parent company of the media organization and service provider PTO Today, was dismissed last week after the two parties reached a settlement, according to a joint statement.

No damages will be paid, the release indicated.

The nonprofit PTA filed suit in September against School Family Media, of Wrentham, Mass., alleging trademark infringement, false advertising, deceptive trade practices, and other claims. An underpinning of the suit was whether PTO Today was attempting to trade on the PTA’s name recognition and reputation.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In their joint statement, the two parties appear to have come to an accord about the way they describe their distinctions.
