To save the nation energy costs, Congress last month voted to add four weeks to daylight-saving time. But the National PTA thinks the change could pose a safety threat for children traveling to school. President Bush is expected to sign the measure as part of a larger national energy bill.
Daylight-saving time now starts on the first Sunday of April and ends the last Sunday of October. Under the new provision, daylight savings would begin three weeks earlier, on the second Sunday of March, and end on the first Sunday of November.
