The Department of Education this month launched an online registry listing researchers willing to evaluate educational products and programs.
The registry is part of the agency’s Web site for its What Works Clearinghouse, where consumers can look up the research base for educational interventions, programs, and policies. Users can now go to www.whatworks.ed.gov for evaluators by geographic region, content area, target population, or name.
All the evaluators registered have signed letters saying they will abide by the same evidence standards the clearinghouse uses.
Still, agency officials warned, just because researchers are listed does not mean they have the federal government’s endorsement.
