New middle and high school teachers are much less satisfied with their roles as educators than new elementary school teachers, a report says.
The report—produced by the New York City-based Public Agenda, a policy-research and civic-engagement organization, and the Washington-based National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality, a U.S. Department of Education-funded nonprofit group—is based on a survey of 641 public school teachers six months into their first teaching job. The survey found that 52 percent of new middle and high school teachers felt that teaching was the ideal career for them, compared with 68 percent of new elementary school teachers.
